Deformers

With Live2D Cubism editor, you can move the anchor points of polygons to deform the Texture to make variety of images with a lot of different angles to create motions of the character.
However, moving polygons one by one manually takes a lot of time to complete.

Using the structure of Deformer, you can create motions by editing anchor points of polygons altogether.

Types of Deformers

There are two types of Deformer, and you may choose one of them according to your usage.

Curve Deformer
This is a square Deformer with the Bezier curve grid.
You can store drawable objects in it, and deform parts like a curved surface by editing the Bezier curve.

You may choose Curve Deformer when you want to make rough deformation for a whole part.

Curve Deformer has two setting values.

Number of Bezier divisions → Set the number how many it is divided in vertical and horizontal directions. The bigger the number is, the more detailed deformation is possible, as you can edit it in more variety range, however, it will need more time for operation.
(The latest model is basically made with 2 x 2. You can make it with 3 x 2 or 2 x 3 for a special purpose, however, make it within the maximum number of 3 x 4.)

Number of conversion divisions → Set the number how many it will be divided in vertical and horizontal directions. The bigger the number is, the more similar deformation it becomes like Deformer’s original shape, however, it will need more calculating which may cause a slow
(The latest model is basically made with 5 x 5 or with 6 x 6 at most. You can make it with the maximum number of 8 x 8 if it is really in need.)

Examples of Curve Deformer
 Bangs Mouth Cheek

Rotation Deformer
With Rotation Deformer, you can make settings of rotating pivot and its angle.
A part will rotate by moving a white dot handle around the black dot as a pivot.

You can use Rotation Deformer when you want to make movements like inclining face when tilting the head, or movements of the arm with shoulder or elbow as a pivot.
(Parts with Rotation Deformer settings are not affected by the deformation of its parent Deformer, so you can also use Rotation Deformer when you want to make settings of position.)

Examples of Rotation
 Rotation of face
Rotation of upper arm Rotation of hand

A parent-child hierarchy of Deformer

You can make a parent-child hierarchy between Deformers and drawable objects.

“A parent Deformer” is to keep drawable objects enclosed inside for deformation.
On the contrary, “a child Deformer” is a drawable object inside of the Deformer.

You can create a new parent Deformer by enclosing a past parent Deformer inside.

Child components (drawable objects or Deformers) should be smaller than a parent Deformer (Curve Deformer) and should be enclosed.

Examples of a parent-child hierarchy
When a reference Deformer is in red, a parent Deformer is in purple, and a child Deformer is in yellow.
