02. Expression in Animator


    Creating New Project and Importing Model Data


Run Animator and create a new project. 
There is no specific configuration for "Scene Settings". The default settings is fine. 
Press "OK" to continue". 


Note that the scene name will become part of the name of the JSON files created in this project.
Ideally, name it something simple like "Epsilon_expressions.canx". 

Next, open and load the .cmox model file. 
At the top menu, go to [File]  →  [Open] and browse the .cmox file. You can also drag-and-drop the cmox file into the canvas. 


Once loaded, resize the model to fit the canvas.




    Scene Settings for Motion (.mtn)

On the timeline, we only need the length of one frame, because all we need is 1 key frame to contain the expression values. 



Give the expression a tag that is easy to recognize. (i.e. "Happy", "Sad", "Shocked", etc.)


To make an expression, only set the value of parameters that matter to this expression. A keyframe for that parameter will be created upon setting a value. 
In general, parameters such as "Face Angle XY" and "Hair move - front" have nothing to do with expression, hence should not have any keyframe created.



Motion files often and frequently change value for parameters "Mouth Open", "Eyeball X", and "Eyeball Y". Be cautious when making expressions.

Usually, these parameters are ideally remained as default. 

"Mouth Open" should be "0".
"Eyeball X" and "Eyeball Y" should be "0".

(Since the algorithm varies in different games and apps, please inform the platform / plug-in developer for further info about the runtime algorithm)




    Motion Export

When ready to export the expression, go to the top menu, click [File]  →  [Output Motion Data]  to export a motion .mtn file. 
You may go with the default settings as shown below.
